On November 4, 2007, Roslyn Franken, a proud
cancer survivor and author of The A List: 9 Guiding Principles for
Healthy Eating and Positive Living, held the LiveBetterBash, a high-spirited
fundraiser for the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation. Roslyn was joined by several
hundred friends and supporters. The event was graciously hosted by Hanna Botros,
owner of Spahara, a beautiful Day Spa
and Hair Salon located at 150 Robertson Rd. Ottawa, Canada. Roslyn gives a special
thanks to Hanna and his family along with Karen Bennett and his other staff as well as the
many great volunteers who contributed to this event's huge success.
Attendees were treated to the special brand
of interactive comedy magic of Elliott
Smith, Magician, balloon twisting by Crazy Brad, one of North America's top balloon
twisters, palm readings by Good Evening Entertainment, fantastic prize giveaways,
inspiring stories from guest speakers such as Roslyn Franken and Max Keeping and a fashion
show by Outskirts boutique. Roslyn was also available to sign her book "The A List: 9 Guiding Principles for Healthy Eating and Positive
Living". The LiveBetterBash raised approximately $5000.00 including the generous
donation of Derek King of Nesbitt Burns and his wife Carole Wood who offered to match all
donations dollar for dollar.
About the Ottawa
Regional Cancer Foundation
The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation is the only
organization committed to increasing cancer survivorship throughout Eastern Ontario.
The Cancer Foundation funds innovative cancer research, treatment, patient care and
expansion in support of The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, the Ottawa Health Research
Institute and community cancer programs. Last year in Eastern Ontario, more than
6,000 area residents learned they have cancer. By 2010, the lifetime risk of developing
cancer for all of us will approach 50%. The Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation believes
that the magnitude and complexity of the problem exceeds the capacity of a single
organization. That is why they partner with health care institutions, cancer associations
and community leaders like those who invested time and energy in organizing this event to
generate resources in support of cancer providers in our community. For more information

About Roslyn Franken
Diagnosed with cancer herself at age 29, Roslyn fought
back to become herself a long-term survivor. Approaching forty, Roslyn's personal
struggles with food, weight and lifestyle led to the creation of the principles that
changed her life. By putting the principles into practice, she reached and maintains
her current, healthy weight and lifestyle and continues to remain cancer-free.
Roslyn owns and operates Roslyn Franken Group, a company dedicated to guiding, supporting
and inspiring individuals and groups who want to build a better life through the practices
of healthy eating and positive living, using the insights she developed and now shares in
The A List's 9 Principles. She offers personalized counseling and professional speaking
services and contributes articles to newsletters, newspapers and magazines.
